A Benefit for Survivors of Domestic Violence on Long Island

On Thursday, October 19th, 2006 facial plastic surgeon Andrew Jacono, M.D., F.A.C.S. of Great Neck, a member of American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery will host ABOUT FACE 2006: Making Changes , the third-annual fund-raiser to benefit FACE TO FACE: The National Domestic Violence Project for the AAFPRS and the Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence. This year's honorees include Constance Schwartz, Director of the Nassau County Museum of Art, Julie Capliano, Benefactor, Fistula Foundation (helping women from third world countries to have fistulas created from birthing repaired), and Bob Moulton, Pesident and CEO Americana Mortgage Group.

More than 300 guests from New York and around the world, including celebrities, socialites and members of the medical community, are expected to attend this year's event, which will be held at The Carltun, Eisenhower Park, East Meadow, New York.

The National Domestic Violence Project was developed to help repair both physical and psychological scars by providing complimentary consultation and surgery to domestic violence survivors who have suffered injuries to the face, head or neck. To date, over 1,250 women have been helped by the FACE TO FACE program, and over 275 facial plastic surgeons participate in the program. On Thursday, October 23, 2003 Andrew A. Jacono, M.D. Chaired ABOUT FACE 2003: Making Changes, the first-annual fund-raiser to benefit FACE TO FACE: The National Domestic Violence Project. The National Domestic Violence Project was developed to help repair both physical and psychological scars by providing complimentary consultation and surgery to domestic violence survivors who have suffered injuries to the face, head or neck. To date, over 1,250 women have been helped by the FACE TO FACE program, and over 275 facial plastic surgeons participate in the program. Congresswoman Carolyn McCArthy was the guest of honor. Dr. Jacono was presented with a citation for his philanthropic efforts from the New York State Assemblywoman Earlene Hooper who was unable to attend. The citation was presented by Dr. Louise Skolnic, Deputy Commissioner fot the Nassau County Department of Social Services.
