Ethnic Rhinoplasty Surgery Procedure - Rhinoplasty Before and After - Manhattan – New York
Ethnic rhinoplasty is a specialty of Doctor Andrew.
Some ethnicities have nasal characteristics that are unique to each race. It is typical for people of all races to want a change of appearance in their nose without diminishing their cultural background or heritage. Everyone wants a symmetrical, pleasing looking nose that fits their face and skin type regardless of creed or nationality. There are unique characteristics of African American, Hispanic, Middle Eastern, or Asiannoses that determine the unique approach and techniques
Like any other nose job or rhinoplasty procedure, in ethnic rhinoplasty the goal is to re shape the nose by altering the cartilage and bone under the nose, but minimizing the trauma and any possibility of scarring. Some procedures in rhinoplasty are more common for ethnic rhinoplasty patients. The changes may be subtle or dramatic, depending on the needs and desires of each patient.
Ethnic Rhinoplasty Patient 1: This hispanic man underwent cartilage grafting to build up his flat nasal bridge, tip reshaping, and a nostril reduction surgery called an alar base reduction. The result is a refined and aesthetically balanced nose.
Common techniques used in Ethnic Rhinoplasty include augmentation (building up) of a flat nasal bridge, lengthening and refining a wide and short nasal tip, and narrowing the base of the nostrils. This is different than in Caucasian noses where rhinoplasty often removes cartilage and bone because the nose is too long, big and over-projected. Ethnic nose job techniques can be used to improve the appearance of African-American, Hispanic, Middle Eastern, and Asian noses, while respecting and maintaining the patient's ethnic heritage. To build up the nose in rhinoplasty surgery, Doctor Jacono prefers to use your body's natural cartilage instead of implants (such as silicone, Gore-Tex or Medpore) as foreign substances have a tendency to become infected or are pushed out of the nose (extruded) over the years following surgery.
Because people of different ethnicities often have noses with distinct characteristics, Ethnic Rhinoplasty requires a highly individualized approach. Doctor Jacono uses digital computerized morphing software to help patients plan the way they want their nose to look after surgery. At our New York Facial Plastic Surgery practice, Doctor Jacono has extensive experience working with a diverse range of patients. His special sensitivity to the various aesthetic needs and preferences of African-Americans, Asian-Americans, Hispanics, and other non-Caucasians allows them to achieve results that harmonize beautifully with the facial features of virtually any patient.
