New York Hispanic Rhinoplasty Video - See what this Latino rhinoplasty patient has to say about his nose job procedure with New York plastic surgeon Dr. Andrew Jacono.
With more than 55 million Latinos in the US, it should come as no surprise that there is a growing demand for Hispanic rhinoplasty procedures and it is one of the faster growing request over most every other cosmetic procedure. This diverse community has a wide range of varying facial features which can present a challenge especially with those slight differences in nasal appearances. This requires a highly trained surgeon to be able to address those differences while retaining their Latino identity.
Dr. Andrew Jacono is a double board facial plastic surgeon who understands the complexity of rhinoplasty surgeries and develops a unique approach for each and every patient. His meticulous planning starts with meeting each patient and understanding what they are most concerned with. For his Hispanic patients, they tend to be concerned that they will lose their unique ethnic identity and characteristics. During the consultation, Dr. Jacono meets with these patients and addresses these concerns and discusses a uniquely tailored approach geared to deliver excellent results and retain ethnic identity.
The Hispanic Nose
While each patient has their own unique look and facial features, Hispanic patients do share some commonalities especially in their nasal characteristics. Some of those common traits can include thicker nasal skin and a more rounded or bulbous nasal tip that can present some challenges when doing tip refinement. Based on their Latino heritages, some other characteristics that should be considered include:
- Flat Nasal Tips and Bridge
- Wide Nostrils
- Dorsal Hump
- Droopy Nasal Tip
Hispanic Rhinoplasty Nefore and After Patient 1: This Latino male patient was concerned with his long and droopy nasal tip. The after results show the tip refinement work that Dr. Jacono performed and this patient was extremely happy with his results.
Hispanic Rhinoplasty Nefore and After Patient 2: This young Hispanic woman was unhappy with her droopy and wide nasal tip as well as her dorsal hump. Dr. Jacono performed a closed rhinoplasty to correct both issues and leave no visible scarring since the incisions were made internally.
Hispanic Rhinoplasty Nefore and After Patient 3: This Hispanic female patient wanted to correct her wide and flarred nostrils as well as to refine her nasal tip. Her after photos show a more femine and refined nasal tip as well as a smaller nostril size.
Hispanic Rhinoplasty Nefore and After Patient 4: This Hispanic male patient was suffering from a collapsed nasal bridge and droopy tip. This patient’s after photos show a proper dorsal bridge structure and a refined nasal tip.
Hispanic Rhinoplasty Surgery: The Procedure
Dr Jacono starts every consultation with a digital morphing session where he takes your photos and modifies them with you to make sure he only changes those characteristics of your nose that you desire, this way he can maintain certain parts of your ethnic rhinoplasty identity as you wish. It is common for Dr Jacono to perform the surgery with a closed rhinoplasty approach which has no external scars and has a quicker healing phase. He does not break the nasal bones and does not use nasal packing which expedites healing and makes the recovery more comfortable. He performs both male and female Hispanic rhinoplasty surgery and performs surgery tailors each surgery to either maintain a man’s masculinity or in the case of women to create a more feminine face.
He often will lift the nasal tip as many Hispanic rhinoplasty patients have a droopy nasal tip by elevating the tip cartilages while refining the tip. He prefers to maintain the strength of the tip cartilages and reshapes them using tip suturing technique, so the tip cannot collapse or get pinched. To reduce nostril size, he will make a small incision on the inside of the nose narrowing the nasal base or nostril width. Sometimes if the tip is more droopy and flat it will require nasal tip grafting with cartilage taken from the inside of your nose called the nasal septum.
If your nasal bridge and hump is more prominent, he will reduce it using telescopic visualization and fine micro-instruments to create a smooth nasal bridge. The nasal bones can also be narrowed with this technique.

Hispanic Rhinoplasty Recovery
Like any other surgery, rhinoplasty recovery time will vary based on the patients age, health, are they a smoker, complexity of the surgery, and other factors. For the most part, patients should expect to take at least a week off from work and limit their physical activity as well. Most patients are able to return back to work by week two and are encouraged to limit the amount of sun to their nose and very limited physical activity such as a light exercise.
