Neck Lift – New York - Partial Face Lift – Lower Face Lift
As we age, the muscles of the neck become loose and drop underneath the skin, resulting in what many women and men refer to as a "Turkey Neck". Vertical banding in the neck may also occur with two paired cords in the middle of the neck due to laxity of the platysma muscle. This is an isolated problem and most surgeons will explain to you that you need a total face and neck lift to correct the problem which is more surgery than most people want.
In cases like this Doctor Jacono's signature lift is a partial lower facelift and neck lift (neck lift alone which lifts the sagging muscles of the neck and jowls) eliminating them and creating youthful and natural definition, without a tight look of older facelift and neck lift techniques.
Neck Lift Patient 1: This woman in her 60s wanted to surgically correct her poorly defined jawline and neck area while also addressing her very visible "turkey neck". Dr. Jacono performed a lower facelift to redefine and contour her jowls, and a deep plane facelift approach was also performed to remove the excess fat from her neck. Dr. Jacono also tightened her neck muscle called the platysma with a platysmaplasty procedure.
Dr. Jacono's Lift differs because it addresses the deeper tissue by going under the muscle, sliding it backwards into its original youthful position. The muscle is tightened on the sides of the neck and also in the middle of the neck with a platysmaplasty, which removing the cording in the center of the neck. This also only requires an incision behind the ears and not in front of the ear so no scars are visible. This technique results in less bruising and swelling since it lifts beneath the muscle and not the skin where all the bruising occurs. Once the deeper tissue is lifted, the excess skin is trimmed. Scars heal better because there is no tension on superficial layers and skin. This lift results in a natural, softer look and creates definition along the jawline and neck, not tightness.
Patients are socially presentable in 7 days after surgery with minimal bruising and swelling. Dr. Jacono's neck lifts and facelifts restore youthful volume and usually patients can wear their hair up within two weeks without a visible scar.
Lower SMAS Face and Neck Lift Patient 2: This female patient had concern for her heavy turkey neck and her sagging jawline. Dr. Jacono performed a lower SMAS facelift which tightened the jaw muscles and platysma muscles in her neck. Fat was removed from the neck and a platysmaplasty was performed to tighten the vertical platysma bands.
Neck Lift Patient Before and After 3:This female patient wanted to get rid of her turkey neck and redefine her jawline. Dr. Jacono performed a deep plane facelift procedure to lift her jowls. He also performed a platysmaplasty during her necklift to remove the vertical cords in her neck. She looks younger and more refreshed without looking like she had plastic surgery.
Neck Lift Patient 4: This patient wanted a neck lift only and not a total face lift. You can see how the excess muscle and skin has been redraped resulting in a natural and crisp jawline. The "Turkey Neck" and the excess platysma cording in the neck were addressed with a platysmaplasty.
Neck Lift Patient 5: This patient wanted a neck lift only to rejuvenate the jowls, jawline and neck and not an entire face lift. The "Turkey Neck" was removed by removing the excess skin and tightening the neck muscles that fall with age. The excess platysma cording in the neck was addressed with a platysmaplasty.
Neck Lift Patient 6: This patient wanted an isolated neck lift and not an entire face lift. You can see how the excess muscle and skin has been redraped resulting in a natural and crisp jawline. The "Turkey Neck" and the excess platysma cording in the neck were addressed with a platysmaplasty.
