Kybella: What to Know About Non-Surgical Neck Lift

Info About Kybella Non-Surgical Injections by Dr. Jacono in New York City.

What Is Kybella?

Kybella Injections New York

Kybella neck treatment is one of the most innovative cosmetic injectables available today, effectively treating and getting rid of double chins. It is the first and only Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved injection to eliminate submental fat.

The treatment is safe and minimally invasive and simple to perform.  These fat-dissolving injections in the neck yield excellent results for men and women of any skin type and ethnicity.

Excess under-chin fat is a common problem among men and women of all ages. This fatty tissue often called the Kybella “turkey neck”, can result from genetics, weight fluctuations, and the normal aging process. Unfortunately, diet and exercise can do little to improve the appearance of the chin. Even the healthiest and most active people may experience double chins and turkey necks.

Over the course of several sessions, Dr. Jacono injects Kybella into the area under the chin. This restores a smooth, sculpted neckline without the need for surgery.

What does Kybella Do Exactly?

Kybella is made from a compound called deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a bile acid that is naturally produced in the body. Its purpose is to dissolve and eliminate fat cells. Kybella injections use a synthetic form of this acid.

Once injected into the neck, Kybella permanently destroys unwanted fat cells. Over the course of 4 to 8 weeks, the body safely reabsorbs and destroys these fat pockets.

After a few months, patients will begin to notice differences in the appearance of their chin and neck. The degree of improvement depends on a number of factors, including age, health, and the amount of submental fat.

Kybella is a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment that requires no incisions. It also demands very little downtime, and patients can return to work and other normal activities in the same afternoon. Each Kybella session is relatively quick, lasting between 30 minutes and an hour. A topical or local anesthetic may be used before injections for added comfort.

Is Kybella Effective for Double Chin Reduction?

Kybella was created specifically to treat fatty under-chin tissue. Depending on the severity of submental fat, this treatment may require up to 50 small injections per session. Generally, the average patient requires between 2 and 4 Kybella treatments, each spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.

When needed, Dr. Jacono may suggest complementary treatments, such as Botox or dermal fillers, to provide more optimal facial rejuvenation outcomes.

Prospective patients should know that Kybella injections do not remove excess neck skin. Older patients with drooping tissue may require minimally invasive surgery for the best, longest-lasting results.

Can Kybella Be Used for Non-Surgical Neck Lifting?

Kybella vs neck lift? Neck lift vs Kybella? What’s the answer?

When used on its own, Kybella is extremely effective at destroying submental fat. It can also tighten a broad swathe of the neck area and sculpt the sagging skin and excess fat under the chin areas.

When paired with Ultherapy, Kybella can offer even more dramatic changes, smoothing a sagging neck and treating deep wrinkles and creases. This combination of cosmetic procedures is known as a non-surgical neck lift.

Unlike a surgical neck lift, the Kybella neck lift does not require invasive incisions and structural rearrangement. And unlike surgical procedures, downtime and recovery are also minimal, lasting only a few days. The non-surgical neck lift is a good option for patients who are not yet ready for surgery. It is less expensive than surgery and can provide good results.

How Long Does Kybella Last?

Unlike other non-surgical treatments, Kybella’s results are permanent. This is because deoxycholic acid, Kybella’s active ingredient, destroys fat cells. The body then safely reabsorbs these cells, and the double chin disappears.

Human fat cells do not regenerate like other cells in the body. In fact, they are not likely to regenerate at all. Over time, the area beneath the chin will begin to smooth and tighten and double chins will disappear.

There is a small possibility that a double chin will reappear after Kybella treatment. Since it only destroys fat cells exposed to the acid, cells that are not exposed to the compound remain active. However, these instances are rare, and the vast majority of patients can expect significant cosmetic improvement.

How Much is Kybella for the Neck?

The cost of Kybella is significantly less expensive than having a surgical procedure done, though the exact amount varies. More than one treatment may be needed. Make sure to ask about this when you schedule a consultation.

What Are the Risks of Kybella?

This treatment, unlike liposuction, holds little risk for scarring and other unwanted complications. The most common side effects include bruising, bleeding, temporary numbness, and mild redness at the treatment site. These problems will usually resolve after 24 to 48 hours. More serious issues, like difficulty swallowing, nerve damage, and facial asymmetry are unlikely to occur. Dr. Jacono is expertly trained and consistently provides the best results.
