Ear Pinning / Otoplasty Surgery

Ear Pinning – New York – Long Island – Otoplasty

Otoplasty (Ear Reshaping) Procedure Information

Protruding ears have been a source of self-consciousness and poor adaptation to school among children, and poor self-esteem amongst adults. This surgery can be performed after the ears reach full size around the age of five or six. When it comes to otoplasty (ear pinning), conventional wisdom is the earlier the better once the cartilages are ready.

Doctor Jacono begins the surgery with an incision just behind the ear in the natural fold where it joins with the head. He then reshapes the cartilage using stitches to hold the cartilages permanently in place. The skin is then closed meticulously with sutures.

During your consultation Doctor Jacono will perform a thorough examination of your ears, assessing which parts of your ear cartilages contribute to their protruding, and for each part to what degree. After this Doctor Jacono uses digital photography and computer imaging software to simulate how you will look after surgery.
