Info About Lower Facelift Surgery in New York
Female patient of top New York Facelift Surgeon Dr Andrew Jacono discusses in detail her lower facelift experience and how happy she is with her facial rejuvenation results.
A lower facelift is a surgical procedure that Dr. Jacono performs to tighten the loose skin of the jawline and jowls, and drooping “turkey” neck. The Lower Facelift before and after creates a defined jawline and tightens the neck while smoothing deep wrinkles, and softening the corners of the mouth. It differs from a traditional Full Facelift that lifts the entire face because it focuses on the lower 1/3 of the face and neck which is most patients’ problem area. For those looking to refresh their appearance and perform less surgery, the lower facelift is ideal. Dr. Jacono is considered one of the best lower facelift surgeons in NYC and America. He was elected one of the best facial plastic surgeons in NYC by New York Magazine and in America by Harper’s Bazaar. He regularly lectures on and demonstrates his lower facelift techniques to surgeons from around the world who come to learn from him, he lectures at facelift plastic surgery national and international symposia and has published extensively in the plastic surgery literature on his innovative techniques.
What is a Lower Facelift?
This cosmetic surgery procedure involves the lower portions of the patient’s face which involves the jawline and neck area primarily. This procedure is a great option for those individuals who are suffering from loose, sagging skin around their jawline and neck. This area is commonly referred to as jowls. The lower facelift does not address the cheeks so for patients who are looking to get their cheeks lifted, a deep plane facelift would be best suited for their needs.
Lower Facelift Surgery Candidates
This procedure is best suited for men and women who are in their forties to sixties and beginning to show the early signs of aging. Patients should be in good physical health and have realistic expectations for their desired results.
The lower facelift can be performed with a combination of other facial rejuvenation procedures and during your consultation with Dr. Jacono, he will discuss what procedures are best suited for each patient’s needs.
Lower Facelift Before and After Patient 1. Concerned with her sagging neck, jowls, and sagging brow, this female patient had a lower facelift surgery and a browlift with Dr. Jacono. Her after results show a smooth and defined jawline with a firmer neck and appears less tired due to her brow lift.
The procedure utilizes incisions placed behind the ears so they are not visible even if you wear your hair back. Dr. Jacono will rejuvenate the lower face by lifting and tightening the underlying muscles and tissues of the face that have begun to sag during the natural aging process. The muscles that loosen that create the jowls is called the SMAS muscle, and those that loosen creating hanging under the neck is called the platysma. The procedure will also remove excess skin which will eliminate visible creases and wrinkles leaving the skin smooth and firm.

Lower Facelift Procedure
Dr. Jacono can perform lower facelift surgery under local anesthesia without general anesthesia which is safe and allows for a quicker recovery. Dr. Jacono performs the lower facelift by creating small hidden incisions behind the ear. This helps to conceal any visible scars. The excess fat will be separated and removed from the skin and Dr. Jacono will tighten and reposition the underlying muscles to restore a more youthful and natural appearance. To complete this cosmetic procedure, the remaining excess skin is tightened and trimmed away to restore smoother skin.
Lower Facelift Patient 2: This patient is 1-year post-operative and in her early fifties. She wanted to look younger and more rejuvenated.
